In The Studio, The Healing Playroom
The Energy Before the Canvas
Every painting begins long before color touches the canvas. Before I create, I enter deep meditation, attuning to the energy and frequencies I want to bring into form. I feel, I connect with color as vibration, as presence, as a frequency that moves through the heart, body, and spirit.
For The Healing Playroom, my focus was on resilient ways of being—how families can work with color as a tool for emotional regulation, connection, and strength. This series is not just about creating art; it is about offering an experience—one that families can interact with, breathe with, and immerse themselves in.
Through color, meditation, and sound, The Healing Playroom is an invitation to step into an energetic space of resilience and emotional well-being—where color is felt, sound is absorbed, and the spirit is gently restored.
The Process: Sourcing High-Frequency Colors for Resilience
Before painting, I enter a meditative state to attune to the colors that will take shape on the canvas. I ask:
-
What colors hold the frequency of strength and adaptability?
-
Which colors can support families in feeling grounded, calm, and connected?
-
How can I visually represent resilience in a way that is both soothing and expansive?
In my previous collection, The Healing Garden, I worked on raw canvas, allowing the paint to soak into the fibers—soft, fluid, like a gentle release. But for The Healing Playroom, I wanted to create a foundation of resilience—a structure capable of holding emotional strength.
I began each piece by applying a light wash of gesso, an intentional act of layering strength into the foundation of the painting. This subtle shift, both visual and energetic, reinforced the idea that resilience is something we build, something that holds us steady while allowing room to expand.
Each painting explores a specific resilient mindset—whether it’s patience, courage, calm, or adaptability—inviting families to breathe in the color of the mindset they want to embody.
Bringing Sound Into the Healing Process
I work with the energy and frequencies of sound and color to support deep restorative healing. Just as color holds frequency and emotion, sound carries vibration that directly influences the heart, body, and spirit, creating a profound pathway for balance and renewal.
Color is the language our heart, body, and spirit understand—it speaks in a way that is deeply felt, beyond words. Sound, on the other hand, activates our body, allowing us to reconnect fully with our spirit and heart. Together, color and sound weave a powerful healing force, guiding the nervous system into states of deep restoration, calm, and emotional regulation.
As the creator of both the paintings and the soundscapes, I am currently developing meditative art environments where color and sound interact, amplifying their healing effects. My intention is to craft an immersive experience in which sound and color merge as tools for resilience, connection, and emotional well-being
-
Some soundscapes will be grounding, offering stability and calm, supporting the body in feeling safe, rooted, and at ease.
-
Others will be expansive, encouraging growth, play, and self-expression, opening space for creativity, movement, and joy.
Each soundscape is composed with intention, attuned to the high-frequency colors within the paintings. When families engage with The Healing Playroom, they won’t just see the art—they will hear its resonance, feel its vibrations, and breathe in its energy, experiencing healing and restoration through both sound and color in a way that speaks directly to the heart, body, and spirit.
A Playroom for Emotional Growth: Art as a Tool for Families
The name The Healing Playroom is intentional. Play is healing. It is how children process the world—through curiosity, movement, and exploration. Yet as adults, we often lose this instinct for play as restoration.
Healing does not have to be heavy. It can be light-filled, sensory, and alive with possibility.
This collection was created to be more than art—it is a tool for emotional growth, inviting families to:
-
Use color as a way to check in with emotions.
-
Practice color breathing together.
-
Create family rituals with sound and meditation.
Whether through observing, listening, or breathing with the paintings, The Healing Playroom gives families a way to experience art together, in a way that supports emotional well-being and resilience.
